PEACE QUEST CAMPAIGN UPDATE: NUMBER 5, AUGUST 2005
On Saturday, August 6, Peace Quest Cape Breton held its 4th Annual Hiroshima Day
Commemoration in the Oasis Room at Cape Breton University. The small, solemn ceremony -
co-sponsored by the University's Centre for International Studies - was attended by around
35 people and local media.

LOS ALAMOS CURSE STILL WITH US: LOCAL DECLARATIONS HELP MARK AUGUST 6 ANNIVERSARY

On August 6, Peace Quest Cape Breton and the Centre for International Studies at Cape
Breton University will co-host a commemoration of the atomic bombing of Japan sixty years
ago. The Cape Breton Regional Municipality has declared the anniversary a 'Day of
Remembrance,' while the Halifax Regional Municipality will observe a 'Day of Peace'.
Around the world, people will gather in thousands of towns and cities in solidarity with
the remaining survivors of the attacks - the 'hibakusha' - and in support of their dearest
aspiration: that no other people ever suffer their fate.
